Simon Hart MP has welcomed the news that Tenby train station is in line for a share of a £300 million grant which will improve disabled access.
Mr Hart has been campaigning for improved step-free access at the busy station and wrote a letter of support for the funding bid.
“Tenby has a high percentage of elderly residents as well as young families who visit and at the moment they have to use the footbridge and steps to get from one platform to the other,” he said.
“This funding is great news for everyone with wheelchairs, buggies and heavy luggage and will be a big improvement for Tenby.”
Simon is pictured celebrating the news with Transport Minister Nusrat Ghani, who said:
“Everyone should be able to access our rail network and I am pleased to announce that Tenby will now become a fully accessible station in the next stage of the Access for All programme.
“Following nominations from the rail industry, stations were selected based on a range of criteria including footfall weighted by disability in the area, value for money, and local factors such as proximity to a hospital.”
