Carmarthenshire County Council has introduced a support package to help small businesses suffering from a loss of income or hardship due to the Coronavirus crisis.

The package includes:

  • County Council business tenants, who operate private businesses from County Council owned properties, being entitled to rent holidays of up to three months This will apply to tenants trading from industrial sites, markets and commercial properties. Any tenants who wish to apply should email sundry.debts@carmarthenshire.gov.uk or call 01267 228730.
  • Small businesses in Carmarthenshire that employ up to nine people could benefit from a Covid-19 hardship rent relief scheme. Capped at £1,500 per successful business applicant, the grant will help cover rental payments for up to three months. Applications are now open here for the council scheme, which will cater for Carmarthenshire businesses unable to access financial support through other sources.

Any tenants who have received a rental demand for rent payment from Friday March 20 are advised that no action will be taken by the council for non-payment during the next three months.

The council’s financial support package for Carmarthenshire businesses complements other support being made available through the Welsh Government.
