It’s often revealing how little connection there is between national news and local concerns....

The political whirlwind continues to gust around Westminster and beyond so I hope this brief update (which follows that of 13 Jan) is helpful. 

Simon Hart MP is rejoicing that nine-year long “temporary” traffic lights will be gone by Christmas.

The lights were put up on a narrow section of the main road between St Clears and Meidrim in October 2012 after a lorry crashed through the hedge.

Politicians and businesses are frustrated at the lack of progress to prevent flooding in Carmarthen.

The Quay was under water three times in three months last winter and an action group met in March to discuss the way ahead.

Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire MP Simon Hart and MS Samuel Kurtz have joined forces to urge the Welsh Government to take urgent action to make changes to the Red Roses / A477 Junction.

It’s good news that the Llandewi Velfrey bypass is at last going to go ahead, having narrowly escaped the most recent Welsh Government “review”.

A few years back I was part of an inquiry into ‘intimidation in public life’. It was a theme picked up by the Committee for Standards in Public Life (of which I was a member at the time) on the back of a particularly nasty set of election campaigns.
