Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire is still in the bottom 10% of the country when it comes to average broadband speeds, new figures reveal.
Statistics from the House of Commons library show that the average download speed in the constituency is 24.8 Mb/s - which is not even officially "superfast".
"You have to be able to get 30 Mb/s to be superfast so our average speed isn't there yet which is depressing," said local MP Simon Hart who has campaigned for years for better access to broadband.
"In fact we are the 594th slowest area out of the 658 areas in the UK."
The figures also show that 8.5% of households can't get 10 Mb/s and that 5.6% are getting under 2 Mb/s.
The figures collated from OfCom statistics show that 84.1% of households in the constituency do have access to superfast broadband.
"I am still getting a lot of casework regarding superfast, in particular from those households who are just a bit too far from the cabinet," added Mr Hart. "It can be particularly annoying if you know your near neighbour is getting 20 Mb/s but you are still struggling with 1.5.
"We are currently working with OpenReach to try to explore the use of Fibre to the Premises to these properties and other methods of improving their speeds."
