Simon Hart MP is on the lookout for a mobile phone signal "not spot" in Carmarthenshire willing to host exciting new technology to get it out of a communications black hole.
Vodafone has come up with innovative "femto" technology which brings guaranteed mobile broadband signal to rural communities that currently have no mobile coverage at all.
The company is looking for 12 rural communities from across the UK to take part in public trials of the technology which will start in early 2012.
"To be chosen for the trial the community needs the support of their MP and to be show that they are fully supportive and engaged," said Mr Hart.
"I think this is a great opportunity for an area that suffers poor mobile phone signal, bringing guaranteed mobile signal can make a huge difference to people's lives."
The Femto technology works by connecting very small boxes (the size of a small wifi router) to fixed broadband connections.
It is specifically designed to provide coverage to a targeted geographical location where installing conventional masts would be uneconomic and inappropriate in planning terms.
If your community is interested in bidding to host a Femto trial then get in touch with Simon's office on 01994 342002 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view itAm I Your MP?
