Simon Hart MP is pictured with Pembrokeshire speech and language therapists Pip Large and Surrey Hartshorn.Local MP Simon Hart met with Pembrokeshire speech and language therapists Pip Large, Surrey Hartshorn at Parliament recently to learn more about what they do to help people with communication needs.

Surrey and Pip joined over 200 speech and language therapists from around the UK as they travelled to Westminster to meet with their MPs as part of the Giving Voice campaign.

Giving Voice, led by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, highlights how speech and language therapy transforms the lives of those with speech, language and communication needs.

Simon Hart, MP said: "Meeting with Pip and Surrey has shown me what a critical role speech and language therapists play. I've been surprised to learn of the huge variety of people that speech and language therapists work with – from children with autism to older people recovering from stroke.

"The film The King's Speech shone a well-deserved spotlight on the profession earlier this year and it was fascinating to hear about how speech and language therapy is literally transforming so many people's lives in Pembrokeshire on a daily basis."

Surrey Hartshorn said: "It was fantastic to join up with fellow speech and language therapists from across the country and take the message to Westminster that our profession really does transform lives."

Also travelling to Westminster, via the Senedd in Cardiff, was a large banner and Welsh dragon which had been created by therapists and users of speech and language therapy services across Wales.
