Pembroke Pupils Get Taste Of Parliament

Pupils from Monkton Priory CP School are pictured with local MP Simon Hart on a visit to Parliament.FROM PEMBROKE TO PARLIAMENT - Pupils from Monkton Priory CP School are pictured with local MP Simon Hart on a visit to Parliament.

The 16 Year Six pupils were given a guided tour of the Palace of Westminster before taking part in a workshop on elections run by Parliament's Education Service.

"We were given a tour of both the Houses of Commons and Lords and Westminster Hall where Obama is making his speech," said Head Teacher Shelley Morris,(pictured second from left).

"Citizenship is part of the curriculum so we've also been to Town Hall and County Hall, some of the pupils have been to the Senedd and now Parliament; this brings it all together for them.

"It was a fantastic experience for them."

Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire MP Mr Hart said: "It was lovely to see some local faces in Westminster and I was delighted that they were able to make use of the Education Service as it's a long trip from Pembrokeshire. "Anything that helps to engage youngsters in the political system and get them interested in elections is great news."
