A unique environmental project near Pembroke that gives day service users a taste of outdoor life has been visited by local MP Simon Hart.
Participants at the Esteam environmental sustainability project based at The Warren help to run a native tree nursery, grow vegetables, repair tools, make furniture and manage woodland.
"We offer the chance for them to gain firsthand experience and training in environmental work and to work with other groups in the community," said project co-ordinator Paul Cook.
"We offer an alternative to day service provision and we are all about interaction and integration; we engage in projects that are based in the community and our participants take part in projects that are based in the community and help them to feel a part of that community."
Mr Hart had a tour of the greenhouses, kitchen garden and tree nursery at the site and got to meet workers and helpers.
"Esteam is exactly what Big Society is all about," he said. "It's a wonderful project and is positive on so many fronts; it benefits the environment, it provides valid work and life experience for its users and it boosts the community."
