Local MP Simon Hart is giving his backing to the campaign Fair Fuel UK- the national campaign for fair fuel prices in the UK led by motoring journalist Quentin Wilson.
People and businesses in Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire have been hit hard by sky high fuel prices. The planned April fuel duty rise could add as much as 23 pence per gallon to already sky high prices. This fills many residents and business owners with dread.
Mr Hart is backing Fair Fuel UK in their battle to scrap the planned fuel duty rise and to introduce a fuel price stabiliser that will keep fuel prices down. He is also calling on people across Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire who are affected by this issue to add their name to the massive number already signed up at www.fairfueluk.com
The campaign has been backed by the Road Haulage Association, the Freight transport Association, the RAC and thousands of ordinary and people and businesses.
Mr Hart said: "I have seen the effects on all our local businesses caused by rising fuel prices, it is key that we do something about these continual rises to prevent companies being forced out of business.
"Freight Transport is an essential part of the UK economy and affects every part of our lives, I am therefore urging people to add their signature to the petition; the more people that sign up the more likely the campaign will be successful in stopping the planned fuel duty rise."
