Speaking during Welsh Questions in the House of Commons, the South Pembrokeshire MP highlighted the vital role played by the Haven in meeting the UK's energy needs.
He asked the Welsh Under-Secretary of State David Jones for reassurance that Dyfed-Powys police would have the long-term resources it needs to protect the vital asset.
"This long cold snap has further underlined to us the importance of ensuring the smooth-running and security of supply of LNG and oil into the Haven on which so many British householders rely to keep warm," added Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire MP Mr Hart.
Mr Jones said that the Government did recognise the strategic importance of Milford Haven and added; "Future funding for counter-terrorism policing has been protected as far possible in the spending review because of the nature of the threat."
