Co-responder Petition Reveals Strength Of Support For Vital Service

Local campaigner Di Clements has collected nearly 600 responses from the 900 households that she visited for support for the Retained Firefighter's petition.

MP Welcomes Fresh Look At Danger Junction

Simon Hart MP at the dangerous A477 Nash Fingerpost junction which is now undergoing review by transport bosses.The layout of a dangerous road junction near Pembroke where two people have died is to be reviewed by transport bosses.

Simon Hart MP has welcomed the news that South Wales Trunk Roads Agency (SWTRA) is to look again at the safety of the Nash Fingerpost junction – the turning for Pembroke off the A477.

Youngsters Urged To Enter Parliamentary Film Competition

Simon Hart MP is pictured with the Lights, Camera, Parliament! action pack which he has sent to every secondary school in his constituency with an aim to encouraging youngsters to make a three minute film arguing the case for creating a new law.If you could make any new law what would it be? A tax on sugar? Scrapping the Severn Crossing toll?

Local MP Simon Hart is calling on Carmarthenshire students to get their thinking caps on and imagine what new legislation they would pass if they could.

He's encouraging youngsters in the county to think up an idea and then get engaged in the democratic process by entering a Parliamentary film competition setting out their argument.

Simon Hart MP Welcomes Upgrade Of Police.uk Website

Local MP Simon Hart has welcomed the upgrade to the website police.uk which now gives the public an even more detailed picture of crime and anti-social behaviour in Pembrokeshire.

The website now includes incidents of crime and antisocial behaviour recorded at all train stations and railway networks. Soon incidents occurring at or near significant local sites like shopping areas, nightclubs, parks, airports, universities, car parks and hospitals will be added too.

Simon Hart MP Supports Soroptimists In The Fight Against Human Trafficking

Simon Hart MP is pictured with four members of Soroptimists International, TenbySimon Hart is supporting Soroptimists International (SI) Tenby in the battle against human trafficking and slavery.

Four members of SI Tenby gave Mr Hart an overview of the extent of slavery, grooming, trafficking and female genital mutilation going on in the UK and told him about SI Tenby's ongoing programme to combat these heinous crimes.

Haven Waterway Enterprize Zone

The company recently filled one of its biggest ever export orders – a £3.8 million pilot vessel Nadoha II ordered by Kenya Ports Authority.Reacting to the news that Pembrokeshire could be the site of a new Enterprize Zone, Local MP Simon Hart said:

Vital Boost To Broadband Speeds In Tenby Welcomed By MP

Simon Hart MP has welcomed the news that more homes and businesses in and around Tenby are going to have faster broadband.

BT has announced that the Tenby exchange is being upgraded with copper lines which will create download speeds of up to 20 megabits per second (Mbps) – more than double the speed previously available.

Simon Hart MP: Securing The Future Of Our Post Offices In Pembrokeshire

Simon Hart MP has welcomed the news of a 10-year deal between Royal Mail and the Post Office, which will secure the future of services in Pembrokeshire without resorting to the failed closures programme which dominated Labour's time in government.

The deal follows the Government's other measures to protect Post Office services including additional funding, new local and national contracts, a successful piloting scheme to transform many local post offices and improvements in the services offered.

Simon Hart MP is pictured with Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group.With the latest unemployment figures showing nearly one in four young people out of work, Simon Hart MP is backing a campaign for greater support for the area's budding entrepreneurs.

Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Media's Pioneers met with Mr Hart this week to discuss the idea of creating a Youth Investment Fund. Virgin Media Pioneers and Sir Richard are recommending the Student Loans Fund is changed to a Youth Investment Fund where loans at favourable rates are available as start-up capital for young entrepreneurs, not just as loans to prospective students.

MIU Closure Statement

Speaking after attending the Local Health Board's public meeting in Carmarthen yesterday, local MP Simon Hart said: "The Chairman of the Health Board was clear - the units will reopen on April 1st. This is a great achievement for the local campaigners. Mr Martin also apologised that communications had not been as good as they should have been during this whole process.

"For confidence and trust to be returned to the local community we now need to see the units reopened and clearer lines of communication set up.

Value Of Narberth’s Co-Responder Service Discussed With Prime Minister

The service is an emergency vehicle manned by trained firefighters which provides a rapid response to 999 calls. In rural areas the Co-responders often preserve lives until the arrival of a fully equipped ambulance.
